There has been a definite shift in the weather this past week with Spring creeping in on Winter’s turf. With this in mind I decided to pick a location which from my research suggested had good outdoor seating where patrons could enjoy the lovely spring weather. For this foray of #BeausBowl I led the bunch into the depths of Woolloomooloo to a small boutique baker, Smoking Gun Bagels (SGB).
As indicated in their namesake SGB specialise in 1 form of baked goods…bagels. To differentiate their product SGB used a custom built wood fired oven to bake their tasty treats. For breakfast I decided to go the double and order 2 different bagels, 1 sweet and 1 savoury (I was happy I made this decision as the bagels + fillings are on ‘lighter breakfast’ side of the scale).
The sweet bagel was a combination of cream cheese spread with sweet rhubarb and crunchy granola sprinkled for good measure whilst the savoury bagel was the standard bacon and egg option with a house made relish.
The bacon and egg with relish was a good option and with a small #loosechange add on of only $2, I was able to wash this first bagel down with a chai latte (3/5). Overall, I think this would be a good option for anyone wanting a quick bite with a hot beverage. What about the sweet bagel you may ask? Well the American style cream cheese spread with rhubarb and crunchy granola was a good way to round out the visit to SGB and leads me to give the food a rating of 3.5/5.
There was adequate parkup directly adjacent to SGB as seen in the picture above and just enough seats available for the group of 8 or so riders who stopped for a feed. I was pretty happy that despite being peak period on a Friday morning we didn’t have to wait for seating and overall the service was quick and efficient. On this front I give SGB a 4/5 for parkup.
Overall, SGB earns a 3.5/5 on #BeausChilliScale.
